What would it cost to live on the coast (say Florida) in a travel trailer versus in a house?

January 30th, 2010 by Dirtguy | 1 Comment | Filed in Beach Real Estate
I have an idea of what it costs to rent a space for a travel trailer in state parks on the beach. I’m curious how that compares to living in a small house in similar real estate. I think the travel trailer is much cheaper, but I have no idea how much cheaper.
paw paw

I’m planning to retire in a travel trailer and travel around the country. I’m just curious how the cost for staying on the beach for a week or a month compares to owning beach-front property. I won’t buy that real estate anyway. Just curious.

Steve

What should I consider when thinking about a move to Seattle, WA from San Diego, CA?

January 21st, 2010 by Dirtguy | 4 Comments | Filed in Beach Real Estate
I’m in a dilemma… I like living down in SD, weather is nice but the traffic is getting worse. I have a daughter and now I think about the quality of life I can provide her. Sure we have the beaches here and dry weather but that’s about it, that can get old. I love surfing but can give it up if I knew I could do more to compensate in a new place; besides, it’s so crowded in the water these days, I paddle out when it’s just getting light out to get a few waves to myself.

I know real estate is not cheap up there by any means, but there’s something about the pacific northwest that I find appealing. The water, climate and proximity to BC. Are there SD transplants in Seattle who could offer some insights, impart a little wisdom or even tell me I’m crazy for moving.

Thanks,
Beachless in SD

Where in Miami Beach Can I have legal labor(employment) help? I have a unique case?

January 17th, 2010 by Dirtguy | 1 Comment | Filed in Beach Real Estate
I worked for a famous Real Estate Corp. who hired an outside company to do their property management for a well know condominium in Miami Beach(I worked as concierge) I worked there seven eternal months full of emotional pain and panic attacks with a horrible female manager who makes everybody life miserable. She verbal abused me with profanity, humiliation, treating me…etc. I was afraid to lose my job and I hold it for seven long months, finally in 08/18/06 I made a complaint to HQ that change my life forever, I was living hell with my manager, I don’t have another choice but recorded her on an audio tape when she abuse me and treating me every 1 minute on my type, I have employees who are my witnesses and from the day of my complaint 08/18/06 and 08/25/06 I had 3 writing warnings and 4 verbal warning & I was fired! I don’t know how she got it but she had two complaints letter of two unit owners who help her, Can I do something at this point? Where I should go? She is going away with crime.

Should I make home improvements on my town home?

January 11th, 2010 by Dirtguy | 4 Comments | Filed in Beach Real Estate
I have a town house in southern California. It is 1650 square feet, 3bd/2.5 ba, has a yard and 2 car garage.

I want to do some light remodeling: new kitchen cabinets, granite countertops in kitchen and bathrooms, update bathroom tubs, and other things. My whole project will cost about $27,000 for materials. No labor costs.

My wife and I plan to remain living in the town home for at least another 5 years because starting a family. We will have our place paid off (& will be debt free) in a few months and may possibly sell it one day if our neighborhood gets bad. But we may never move because real estate is SUPER expensive near the beach where we live.

Is $27,000 too much to invest in my town house? My reason for the updates is not for resell but to make our home more custom.
I want us to be happy with what we have so we don’t go house poor buying a fancier house.

Also, should we save our money for 18 months to pay for the project in full, or should we get a loan?

January 2nd, 2010 by Dirtguy | 1 Comment | Filed in Beach Real Estate
to the beach.Don’t want to spend more than 150,000 Nothing luxurious.Just running hot water and bathrooms.Serious answers only.I have looked at some properties in san jose and I am telling you the real estate is absolutely cheap compared to the states. And the property taxes are ridiculously low.

Can someone give me a good rundown on the Jersey Shore beaches without going too south?

December 26th, 2009 by Dirtguy | 2 Comments | Filed in Beach Real Estate
I want to know what the area is like to buy real estate. The type of people who live there. The social life and bar scene. The food scene. The activities available on the beach for adults and/or children. The age group of beach visitors.

I’m hoping locals from the Jersey shore anwer this question.
